When will my e-Transfer deposit be available?
After fulfilling an Interac e-Transfer request, your deposit should be available in your account within 60 minutes (in most cases).
If you have not received a deposit confirmation after 60 minutes, we suggest checking your transfer history in your online banking portal. If your deposit has a 'pending' status, it might have been held by your financial institution for review. You can contact your financial institution's fraud or loss prevention department for help authorizing and releasing the transfer.
Please be aware that if it is a first-time deposit, a 72-hour withdrawal wait period will be triggered for security purposes. During this time, you will not be able to withdraw any currencies from your account, but trading will remain unaffected. You can still buy, sell, and make trades.
Why hasn't my e-Transfer been deposited yet?
Since each bank works with their own processing times and procedures, you may sometimes experience an Interac e-Transfer deposit delay. Use this checklist to investigate why your transfer is held up:
- You may have set a daily limit on Interac e-Transfers that’s lower than the amount you tried to deposit. In some cases, a predefined limit may block your deposit from going through.
- Confirm that you’ve used your legal name on Bitbuy and that your bank account uses the same name. Interac or your bank may block a request if it’s coming from an account with a different name.
- There may be a block by Interac or your bank. Some banks require your authorization for release but don’t send out a notification. Calling the bank's fraud or loss prevention department might help. When you speak to your bank representative, ask specifically if the block was made by Interac.
- Lastly, if none of the above scenarios work for you, get in touch with us. Let us know that your deposit didn’t come through and we can open up an investigation with our payment processor to understand why your request is held up.
