In consideration of new regulatory requirements for Canadian cryptocurrency platforms, Bitbuy has delisted XRP as of January 13th, 2022.

Please note that as of January 13th, 2022 9:00 am EST you will no longer be able to trade XRP/CAD or XRP/BTC markets and you will no longer be able to make new XRP deposits to your Bitbuy account wallet.

If you have an XRP balance, we ask that you either withdraw your XRP balance to an external wallet, or trade your XRP balance into another coin or Canadian dollars before January 13th, 2022 at 9am EST.

After January 13th, 2022, you may still withdraw your XRP off Bitbuy for a grace period of 30 days. No trading will be permitted at this time.

More details:

Section 20 of our Ontario Securities Commission exemptive relief decision states that we are required to apply policies and procedures to determine whether a crypto asset is a security and or a derivative.

These policies must consider the opinion of international regulators, including the regulator with the most significant connection to a crypto asset. We will continue to monitor the status of XRP and should things change we will act accordingly.

Bitbuy is committed to transparency, compliance and a fair trading experience and we thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Some good news:

We’re replacing XRP with 7 new coins and even more to come. Stay tuned!
