How do I enable Google Authenticator or Authy?

PLEASE NOTE: When Google Authenticator or Authy is enabled and set up, it is required every time you sign in to your Bitbuy account. Please make sure you understand how they work before changing your 2FA method. 

 

Google:

1. Navigate to the 'Settings' section of your account

  • Click on your name in the top right corner of the screen, next to the gear icon

2. Click on 'Switch to Google Authenticator', you will be prompted to enter a SMS 2FA code to confirm the switch

  • If you do not have the Google Authenticator you can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store

3. Open your Google Authenticator and scan the QR code that is presented - this will add a Bitbuy entry to your authenticator

4. In your Bitbuy account, enter the authenticator code and click 'Validate Code' 

 

Authy

1. Navigate to the 'Settings' section of your account

  • Click on your name in the top right corner of the screen, next to the gear icon

2. Click on  'Switch to Authy', you will be prompted to enter a SMS 2FA code to confirm the switch

  • If you do not have the Authy, you can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
    **In order to set up Authy, the phone number associated with your Authy account must match the one in your Bitbuy account.

3. You will receive a second SMS code, please enter this into Bitbuy. This will add an entry into Authy that you will now use as 2FA for your account.
